Tugun Beach by Tugun Local Business Directory
http://www.tugunonline.com is a Local Business Directory for Tugun by Doug Kercher. It includes Tugun Restaurants, Tugun Accommodation and almost all the businesses in Tugun.
Tugun Beach is located at the Southern end of the Gold Coast in Queensland Australia. For the beachgoer, it has numerous advantages to the more well known beaches at the main and northern parts of the Gold Coast.
Because of the curve of the bay that makes up the Gold Coast beaches, Tugun is more protected from the prevailing southerly winds than the northern beaches.
If you are surfing, this means the waves are frequently less affected by the sea breezes and the beach is shielded from large southerly swells by the headland at Snapper Rocks so it typically has a respectable wave where many others beaches are closing out and blown out.
Tugun Beach is never packed out with people, even on the best days. You can walk from the beach to the Tugun, Currumbin or Bilinga Surf Clubs. The smaller sized swells and the three patrolled parts of the beach make it usually safe for swimming. Swim inbetween the flags and ask the lifesavers about the viability of the beach conditions.
Tugun has a wonderful village feel with the supermarkets, wonderful restaurants, takeaway food stores, bakeries, and coffee shops within 100 metres of the beach. There is a variety of other stores and businesses in the strip.
There is an additional variety of shops simply across the highway near the Tugun Bowls Club in Kaleena Street.
The John Flynn Hospital has many health services and is found at the end of Boyd Street past the rugby and soccer sports premises and skate park.
You can walk south to Coolangatta past Bilinga (where the flight terminal is) and Kirra or north to Currumbin. It’s a stunning stretch of beach to take pleasure in untouched by the erosion problems experienced in 2013 on the northern coastline.
It is easily available by automobile to the M1 motorway for an easy journey north to the Theme Parks or further to Brisbane or south directly over the border into NSW and the Tweed Coast and Byron Bay.
There is a frequent bus service that runs along the Gold Coast Highway north and south.
There are lots of beachfront accommodation resorts and apartments from low rise to beachfront residences, even older style homes, all with access to the beach with wonderful ocean views and to the hinterland.
